In an extraordinary display of box office endurance, Aditya Dhar’s spy thriller Dhurandhar continues to defy the typical “fourth-week slump.” After a slight, expected dip following a massive weekend, the Ranveer Singh-starrer showed renewed vigor on its 26th day, proving that the film’s grip on the Indian audience remains ironclad.
Domestic Dominance: The ₹700 Crore Club
While most films struggle to maintain momentum by their second week, Dhurandhar is still pulling in double-digit figures well into its fourth. On Tuesday (Day 26), the film collected an estimated ₹11.25 crore, a rare “uptick” from its Monday haul of ₹10.5 crore.
This brings the total domestic nett collection to a staggering ₹712 crore. By crossing the ₹700 crore mark on Monday, Dhurandhar officially etched its name in history as the first Bollywood film to ever breach that milestone in the domestic market.
Recent Box Office Trajectory (India Nett): | Day | Collection | Notes | Day 24 (Sat) | ₹20.00 Cr | Massive weekend surge | | Day 25 (Sun) | ₹22.50 Cr | Peak fourth-week performance | | Day 26 (Mon) | ₹10.50 Cr | Standard weekday drop | | Day 27 (Tue) | ₹11.25 Cr | Growth over Monday | | Total | ₹712.00 Cr | All-time Bollywood Record |
Global Conquest: Chasing the All-Time Greats
The film’s performance overseas is equally formidable. As of Monday, the worldwide gross stood at ₹1081 crore. Over the last few days, Dhurandhar has systematically overtaken heavyweights like Kalki 2898 AD and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, securing its position as the seventh highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
The industry is now watching the “Jawan” milestone. Shah Rukh Khan’s 2023 blockbuster Jawan finished its run at ₹1160 crore. If Dhurandhar maintains its current pace, it is expected to claim the sixth spot by this coming Friday or Saturday. Beyond that, the film has the legendary records of KGF: Chapter 2 (₹1215 crore) and RRR (₹1230 crore) in its sights.
Industry Acclaim: Karan Johar Joins the Chorus
The film’s commercial success is being matched by critical adulation from within the industry. Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his admiration for Aditya Dhar’s vision at a book launch event.
Johar admitted to being “blown away” by the technical finesse of the film, specifically highlighting the background score and Dhar’s storytelling style.
“It makes you feel like, oh, my craft is limited,” Johar remarked. “What I loved about Dhurandhar was that I didn’t feel the director was self-aware… he was seamlessly telling you the story without trying to show off.”
About the Film and Its Future
Produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar (B62 Studios) in collaboration with Jyoti Deshpande (Jio Studios), Dhurandhar is a gritty underworld saga. The narrative weaves a complex web of informants, double agents, and covert operatives, anchored by a career-defining performance from Ranveer Singh.
The “Dhurandhar-verse” is only just beginning. With the film still minting money, the makers have already fueled the fire by announcing Dhurandhar: Part 2, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 19.
